Session 1: Mixed Media Art & Piñata Studio at Challenger Middle School
This camp for is open to all students who just finished 7th or 8th grade during the 2025-2026 school year at a San Diego Unified School District school. A valid student ID number is required for final enrollment.
About our Program:
Get creative this summer through hands-on art projects inspired by culture, storytelling, design, and self-expression! In this fun and welcoming mixed media art camp, students will explore a different exciting project each week—from lowrider piñatas and Huichol yarn paintings to block printing, cyanotype embroidery, handmade books, altars, and more.
Learn new artistic techniques while experimenting with painting, sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts, and collaborative design in a supportive studio environment. Along the way, participants will explore the cultural significance of lowriders and other examples of San Diego Chicano culture, express their identity through art, and develop creative problem-solving and design skills. Through guided instruction, collaborative activities, and plenty of room for imagination, students will bring their ideas to life in a supportive, fun environment.
No experience needed—just bring your creativity!
