VAPA Foundation

This camp is open to all students currently enrolled in 7th or 8th grade at a San Diego Unified School District school. A valid student ID number is required for final enrollment.

About this Camp:

"You Are Here/Usted Está Aquí” is a dance & storytelling workshop in which students will interview each other about the places that they live and communities they belong to, learn to edit sound files to create a soundtrack, and create a dance that embodies the sound track they create. Dance technique instruction will be a part of the workshop, but students will be encouraged to use movement that feels comfortable to them.

Students will be working to learn and create movement for extended periods of time. Students of all experience levels and abilities are welcome.

Schedule:

• This 1-week camp runs everyday, Monday-Friday from June 23 to June 27.
• Student check in will be from 9:00am-9:15am, and student pick up will be from 11:45am-12:00pm.
• Camp instruction will be from 9:15am-11:45pm.

This camp is a collaboration of VAPA Foundation, Malashock Dance, and SDUSD.
