This camp is open to all students currently enrolled in 7th or 8th grade at a San Diego Unified School District school. A valid student ID number is required for final enrollment.
About this Camp:
Within just one week you’ll learn the foundational skills required to build an extremely long-lasting mosaic artwork, that will survive any harsh weather conditions.
Working alongside experienced public art professionals, each student will create a unique individual piece - Stepping Stone mosaic.
A stepping stone is a beautiful piece that can show the path to a front door, decorate a garden, or lead somewhere exciting. But “stepping stone” also has a second meaning: it's something that helps you make progress towards a specific goal.
Get challenged by working with all the professional materials and tools to fine-tune your own design!
This is an advanced program, where students will be working with glass, mosaic tools and equipment in a structured, safety - conscious environment. While all children are welcome to sign up, please note that the activities require fine motor skills, close attention to details and ability to follow directions. If you are unsure in your child's ability to safely and comfortably engage in this type of detailed handiwork, please contact us in advance so we can help determine whether this camp will be a good fit or discuss possible accommodations.
Schedule:
This 1-week camp runs everyday, Monday-Friday from June 23 to June 27.
Student check in will be from 9:00am-9:15am, and student pick up will be from 11:45am-12:00pm.
Camp instruction will be from 9:15am-11:45pm.
This camp is a collaboration of VAPA Foundation, Rainforest Art Project, and SDUSD.
